Protecting Free Speech and Fair Elections
From recent attacks on free speech and fair elections to the deployment of troops in cities across the U.S., the Trump Regime has made it crystal clear that it is willing to do anything to erode our democracy and secure unchecked power. But across the nation and here in Oregon, elected officials, everyday people, and community organizations are speaking out and organizing to protect our democracy and our communities.
No Troops On Our Streets
WHAT'S HAPPENING: Tennessee is the latest U.S. state to be targeted by the Trump regime’s authoritarian use of U.S. Troops to target civilians on American soil.
The regime previously deployed troops to California and Washington, D.C., and has threatened to deploy troops in Illinois and Oregon as well.
While we do not know what the future holds, we do know that now is the time for each and every one of us to speak out and make it clear that any occupation of any place in Oregon is a violation of our autonomy and a danger to our communities. That's why so many organizations and people from across the political spectrum are uniting to peacefully oppose this potential action by the Trump regime.

Next week’s newsletter will include a comprehensive messaging guide for organizational and elected leaders, the faith and business community, and everyday Oregonians seeking to communicate our collective opposition to the Trump administration’s potential deployment of National Guard troops in Oregon.
Protecting Immigrant Oregonians
WHAT'S HAPPENING: Marion County’s seemingly politically motivated lawsuit against Oregon’s decades-old, bipartisan Sanctuary Law is ongoing. It is critical that we send a loud and clear message that Oregonians reject racial profiling and support upholding our Sanctuary Law.

Use this quick tool from Oregon For All to tell Marion County Commissioners to defend Oregon’s Sanctuary Law.
Protecting Democracy
WHAT'S HAPPENING: This week, Trump’s DOJ announced that they are suing Oregon and Maine in an attempt to access private voter data and enact an unprecedented federal takeover of our elections, which the U.S. Constitution outlines as being under state purview.
In response to the lawsuit, Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read said, “If the President wants to use the DOJ to go after his political opponents and undermine our elections, I look forward to seeing them in court. I stand by my oath to the people of Oregon, and I will protect their rights and privacy.” He also released a video addressing the matter, which you can view here.
On October 18th, No Kings is organizing a series of non-violent protests across the nation and across Oregon to stand up for democracy and reject the Trump regime's authoritarian power plays.

Fighting Back Against Corporate Cronyism
WHAT'S HAPPENING: The comment period to protect the 2009 Endangerment Finding closes on September 22nd. Trump’s EPA reversed this finding, which is the bedrock of the EPA’s authority to regulate climate pollution from vehicles, power plants, and other sources of climate pollution.

Use this tool from Oregon League of Conservation Voters to tell the EPA to uphold the 2009 Endangerment Finding.
Protecting Freedom of Speech
WHAT'S HAPPENING: The Trump regime’s FCC is now pressuring major networks to fall in line and limit the speech of their talk show hosts. This week, Disney’s ABC suspended “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” after the host made comments regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
HOW WE'RE TAKING ACTION:
Use this moveon.org petition to encourage ABC and Disney to protect free speech, reinstate Jimmy Kimmel, and resist attacks on every person’s First Amendment rights.
