Showing Up and Speaking Up: Latest Messaging + Events
As Trump continues to threaten vulnerable communities, progressive groups in Oregon are coming together to fight back. To bolster our coordinated communications response, Protect Oregon has worked with organizations and communications experts across the state to compile a Messaging Hub that provides guidance and communications strategies for those looking to take action, fight back, and support impacted communities.
PROTECTING EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL
WHAT'S HAPPENING: As Trump continues to come after the trans community, attack abortion rights, and rollback decades of progress made in the fight for equal rights, a coalition of progressive Oregon groups are fighting to guarantee our rights in the Oregon Constitution in November 2026.
The Equal Rights for All ballot measure would make it clear that the Oregon Constitution protects all Oregonians’ freedom and equal rights to make private, personal decisions – from who someone loves, to the healthcare they receive – no matter their sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
The measure, which will be on the ballot in November 2026, would protect the right to abortion and reproductive healthcare including IVF and contraception, safeguard access to gender-affirming care, and enshrine the right to marriage equality in the Oregon Constitution, so that no matter what happens in the federal government, Oregonians are protected under their state laws.
Get involved with the Equal Rights for All campaign today!
HOW WE'RE FIGHTING BACK:

HOLDING REP. CLIFF BENTZ ACCOUNTABLE
WHAT'S HAPPENING: In the dark of night and without real public debate, Congressman Cliff Bentz voted to terminate health care and nutrition assistance for millions of Americans, including thousands of Oregonians in his own district — all to help fund a $4 trillion tax break for billionaires and big corporations. The bill — the largest termination of Medicaid and SNAP in U.S. history — was rushed through committee in the middle of the night, with no time for real debate, no transparency, and no accountability. The public overwhelmingly opposes this bill, which was pushed through without daylight or deliberation. But rather than stand up for his constituents, Rep. Bentz went along with his party — rubber-stamping their agenda instead of fighting for Oregon families.
HOW WE'RE FIGHTING BACK:
☎️ Call the Medicaid hotline at 866-426-2631 to make your voice heard. The bill now goes to the Senate and then could go back to the House for a second floor vote. This is the moment to hold Congressional Republicans and Rep. Bentz accountable for voting to terminate healthcare for hundreds of thousands of Oregonians.
INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF ALL OREGONIANS
WHAT'S HAPPENING: State budget writers are just weeks away from finalizing a state budget for the 25-27 biennium. With state revenues forecasted to decline due to Trump's Tariffs, there's growing concern that Oregon's budget writers could propose a state budget that further cuts programs which keep people housed, healthy, safe and fed. This is the moment to rise up and show support for investing in the future of all Oregonians.
HOW WE'RE FIGHTING BACK:
