PROTECTING PUBLIC LANDS
WHAT'S HAPPENING: Congressional Republicans’ budget bill continues to wreak havoc. This week, Senator Mike Lee from Utah tried to push through an amendment to the budget bill that would require the federal government to sell off millions of acres of public land to pay for tax cuts for billionaires and the ultra-wealthy.
Lee’s amendment has already been found to violate Senate rules, but is not the first time Republicans have attempted to force the sale of public lands – and it won’t be the last. This lawless, reckless legislation threatens the future of protected areas in Oregon — including Mt. Hood National Forest and Crater Lake. Write to Oregon Senators Wyden and Merkley today to thank them for fighting for our climate and urge them to keep doing all they can to reject this disastrous bill.

STANDING UP FOR TRANS YOUTH
WHAT'S HAPPENING: In the wake of the Supreme Court’s U.S. v. Skrmetti ruling, upholding Tennessee’s ban on gender affirming care for minors, Basic Rights Oregon is hosting a rally to mourn the setback and get energized for the work ahead.
Recognizing that this is a painful time for all transgender people, especially transgender youth, Basic Rights Oregon and the Equal Rights for All campaign are continuing to fight for everyone’s rights to make their own private medical decisions.
If you or someone you know has questions about gender-affirming care laws here in Oregon, Attorney General Dan Rayfield launched a Gender Affirming Care Toolkit earlier this year, explaining Oregon law and sharing ways to get connected to resources.
